EUREKA RECYCLING believe that waste is preventable. Great!! but watch below link.

my question is what happens to the ink on the boxes during the recycling process??? ...if it isn't "green " ink than surely this process poses some danger to the environment.

THERE IS STILL HOPE... ??
I wonder if 50% is good enough??? and will this bio-fuel really reduce CO2 emission??..and if it does, at what cost?
NORTH $EA
I have read an article yesterday that BP was given GO AHEAD decision to a new oil project worth £4.5 billion; which in effect will create up to 3,000 jobs.
Mr. Cameron was delighted and described the scheme as "great news".
Well...instead of disturbing more habitats and investing such amount of money in " Pandora's Box" why not work on Cradle to Cradle solution for us and our planet!

SATSUMAS
That was fun! Totally recyclable packaging.
IT MAKES ME WONDER : IF WE WERE CLOSER TO NATURE AND STAY IN TOUCH WITH IT MORE FREQUENTLY THROUGH LOVE AND AFFECTION THEN WE WOULD CERTAINLY MAKE THINGS DIFFERENT.

THE END OF SUBURBIA
In America in 1946 new system of habitation called SUBURBIA became revolutionary thanks to cheap oil. Cheaper than water! So everyone wanted it! Unfortunately many Americans seeking this suburban dream life invested in no future and although this way of life gave sense of security it created the need for further oil extractions and its drastic reduction. More cars appeared on the roads as people had to travel miles and miles to work in the city. Highways were built making suburban life possible– and at what cost??
In 2003 in Canada itself 50 million people were affected by the blackout, causing havoc but did people really took it seriously?? Well, politicians, people with power fail to address oil depletion and the consequences caused by its misuse or abuse.
I wonder if it is too late to reverse the situation???! I don’t think young generation understands the consequences of our doings. Some might say that this change is god’s doing! Well, to me it seems like an excuse not to act. We are responsible for our own actions. And it is our responsibility as parents, teachers and scientists, (I have no hope in politicians!!..nor god) to MAKE every human understand what is really happening to our planet.
Green Design is definitely a way to go! Ideas about returning to traditional way of living like: growing our own vegetables and fruits, walking rather than using cars - to some it is an alien experience. But collectively we can make a positive impact on our environment.
This documentary urges: STOP SUBURBAN WAY OF LIVING! Truly, we can’t live like that anymore. But will we be able to function without the unnecessary commodities? Will people become unemployed because they are car dependant? Or would we pay more attention to how we use energy to save our planet? Perhaps we will able to grow closer and be neighbors again.
Making things happen locally will help global situation.
We need to raise greater awareness and we as designers will make great impact on the change so huge responsibility rests on us.
Quite interestingly future generation looking back on our times might think of us as irresponsible silly people who lived according to their selfish desires...quite a thought!

THE DEMISE OF OIL ECONOMY
It was only a matter of 90 years since the oil was discovered and it is coming to an end.
This documentary which shows Venezuela’s and Baku’s oils site has shocked me – not only because the whole site looked environmentally unhealthy but also how a man could leave this place in such a state! Now Sudan, a “gold mine” and its exploitation leads to instability across the country with the government which moves residents around in search of oil.
Crude oil (petroleum) is a cheap source of energy and that’s its advantage! But overall it causes a lot of damage to our environment. And it is not renewable…but one might argue so to be precise it takes millions of years for its formation! And I doubt that humankind will be there again to search for it and obliterate the planet once again! That’s how I feel anyway.
Most of products have oil in it. Oil is necessary, so how are we going to cope when it runs out?? The demand is high and other countries like India and China are also interested in it. New resources are discovered in African countries and partnerships are made to keep the “green coloured” money coming in!
There is a search not only for more resources but also because of that deforestation happens in order to grow vegetable oil or palm oil – again cheap sources of energy. Some may say: what a great idea! We have sustainable energy source! without realizing that wildlife pays the price! …interesting article:
Greed? The most powerful country? The most richest? Are these the reasons? Those are though provoking questions. Going greener in their pockets and not environmentally green is what I think drives the most powerful leaders. As I have mentioned during our discussions most wars are executed in the name of OIL! But I think that not many brave men realize that. They are being convinced either to fight for the country or in the name of a god. Only recently, Gaddafi’s army attacked oil facility in nearby Libyan town Ras Lanuf killing people:
So what is the answer to all those hooked on oil? Technology is a complex issue and it is true that it takes time to develop sustainable energy but I hope that with today’s knowledge and the danger we are in, we will be more green – sustainable in our everyday life, as lack of oil supply won’t sustain us. Green Design should be the way of living but for many that would mean simpler way of life. Would going back to our good-old times, using horse carriages, limited electricity, transportation limitations - much bigger taxes to reduce air travel - be possible, moreover, acceptable? It is upsetting to think that we/our off springs soon won’t be able to air travel, as pointed out in the documentary. But if we won’t care for our environment now then how extensive damage our next generation will have to face? In some countries the simplicity always been a way of existence…but when the western developed countries embrace this idea they might be/would be in turmoil.
I ask myself: are they really developed??
